Many Bulgarians have encountered a virus related to COVID-19 in 2008. Due to this fact, they  are not very  susceptible to the infection.

People who have passed through the cousin of COVID-19 have developed immunity. This claims a new scientific publication. According to her, in 2008 there was a similar virus isolated from bats in Bulgaria, pulmonologist Dr. Alexander Simidchiev told Nova TV.

The name of the virus is 'CoV-2008 / Bulgaria'. It is possible that this is the reason why the size of the pandemic is not so large in this country.

"The fact is that this virus was in Bulgaria and it seems that about 50% of the population have some immunity. It is likely that they are elderly people ", the specialist adds.
